Why Should you do Reiki?
Energy is the basis of all life, living and non-living.
It’s energy that connects all people, plants, animals, earth, water, fire and metals found on planet earth. Each influences all the others. Each can operate independently, but are united together through the essence of life.
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning . Rei (universal life) . ki (energy) . Reiki uses healing energy to rebalance a person’s biofield, mind, body and soul.
Energy flows through your body and around your body like a sphere; flowing into your head through your body, out your pelvic region towards your feet, then curving back up towards your head. It is a continuous motion.
This sphere is called your biofield. Your energy “bubble”. Have you ever felt someone get too close to your “bubble”? We all have. It’s not seen by most people, but yet tangible and real.
Your energy field picks up energetic information all day, everyday, whether you are aware or not. This could be a range of energetic frequencies from lower vibrational emotions (anger, guilt, shame, sadness) to more middle range frequencies (calm, content, neutral) to higher range frequencies (joy and love)**. But more than just emotions, our biofield picks up energetic frequencies from all living and non-living things. Each vibrates at its own unique freqency.
**Notice I didn’t use the words “good” or “bad” when describing these emotional frequencies. When we apply these terms to emotions, it implies that we shouldn’t feel a certain way. When in reality, everyone feels all of these things. It’s ok to have any of these emotions. What matters is what you do with the emotions. We are often raised to behave a certain way, think or feel a certain way, but this only hinders a natural part of who we are. You can be who you authentically are AND feel any emotion WITHOUT becoming that emotion.
When these frequencies are not managed properly, they can accumulate and begin to cause problems within the body resulting in illnesses. What we consume or products we use also play a part in our health.
So what does all of this have to do with Reiki?
Reiki is healing energy that brings balance to every aspect of a person’s life. There are no limitations as to what Reiki can heal or help improve.
Reiki’s benefits include but are not limited to:
Reducing stress, anxiety, worry or other emotional imbalances
Reducing physical body pain or alleviating it all together
Brings about clarity of mind, body and soul, bringing to light that which needs help healing. Corrective measures can be taken to repair, relieve or heal.
Improving sleep and overall well-being
Promotes faster healing after a medical procedure
Increases self-awareness and spirituality
Reiki has 5 Principles of life. These are not laws or rules, but helpful guides to follow to improve your experiences and way of being as you go about your day. They are reminders to encourage you to be your authentic self and live in a more present state of being or awareness. They encourage you to go with the flow of life, to be felxible, allow what is, control what you can control and let go of what you cannot.

Just for today I will be Grateful
Just for today I will do my work Honestly
Just for today I will be Kind to Every Living Thing
For me, personally, Reiki has changed my life and for the better. Outwardly, my life hasn’t changed much, but inwardly, my mind, body and soul have changed profoundly. I’m more centered, more selective on what I pay attention to and do with my time. I truly enjoy life more. I see what I have and how blessed I am. I see my true-self, my gifts and talents. I am in a place of setting up healthy boundaries and learning to make my own decisions without thinking about what others might say or do. It takes courage and inner strength and fortitude to do so. It hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had hard days and I still “feel” fear, but I don’t let it stop me if it’s the right thing for me to do. I am living my life with confidence, peace and joy. Outwardly, I spend a great deal of time by myself, in nature with my husband and dog, but I have become more selective on social gatherings and events.
I have found what works for me. It will look different for you as it should be. Because, you are you. Take time to discover what that is.
