Fear: It Doesn’t Need to be Paralyzing

We have all felt it at one time or another and to varying degrees. Some of us feel it all the time. It can keep you feeling stuck, like you have no control over anything or you feel like you’re unable to make a choice to find your way out it. But is fear all bad? Short answer, No.

What is Fear? Why do we feel it? Can I do anything to overcome it? In this blog, I’ll shed light on these questions to help you begin to explore your own beliefs about what fear is and how it plays a role in your life.

Fear can be instinctual. It can keep us safe by telling us when something doesn’t seem right.

But, ultimately, Fear is an emotion. A frequency of energy tied to a belief that is out of alignment with who you are at your core; a pure love spiritual being in human form, meant to be here to experience life, emotions, love, passion, grief, sadness, etc.

We feel fear because of some belief held within us that is preventing us from carrying out our passions and excitement for life.

Emotions are teachers. They show us what we believe within ourselves. It’s only when we take the time to examine these beliefs that we can begin to understand if they serve a purpose anymore or not. That alone is for you to decide.

Fear based beliefs are most often developed during childhood and taught to us by parents, siblings, teachers, friends, community, culture and society. We are taught what is right, what is wrong and what is “normal”, what is acceptable and what isn’t.

Teasing out emotions, thoughts and beliefs through deep introspection leads to more freedom, peace and inner calm. It’s through complete honesty, compassion, love and understanding without judgement on yourself that you can begin to undo what you’ve been told and start building a solid foundation of your own beliefs for yourself. Seek help if you feel you need it to work through them.

This is self-empowerment in action.

Deep Introspection is not blaming others or hating others. On the contrary, you’re observing in a neutral state, allowing you to examine what you are feeling and why you are feeling that way. You can begin to listen to the “voice” behind the phrase or belief. Is it yours? Is it someone else?

If the belief belongs to someone else, ask yourself if you believe the same thing. If you don’t believe the same thing, it no longer serves you. Let it go. Letting something go is being aware of it, and knowing it has no hold on you anymore. If you find that it keeps coming back, you need to keep digging.

This can often lead to thinking of other reasons as to why you maybe “can’t let it go”. Maybe you feel you’ll disappoint someone, a family member or friend. However, I encourage you to examine those responses too. Do they align with you? How does it make you feel? Do you feel lighter or heavier? It’s entirely up to you what you do and how you want to set your boundaries with yourself and those around you.

It may take some time to work through your emotions and beliefs. After all, they have been a big part of your life. Give yourself some compassion and grace and take baby steps to work towards what you want to achieve.

Here are some tips to help move through life that I learned from Darryl Anka’s Bashar Series on Gaia TV.

  1. Act on your passion (excitement) first, the best you can, for as long as you can and as fully as you can. This can be a practical way live out each day because it doesn’t matter how small or big the task is. What excites you? Do it. The more you act on your passion, the more you’re matching that frequency, the more opportunities you’ll have. This is synchronicity. A matching of your alignment with the divine flow of the universe. When the excitement falls away, look for another thing that excites you. It is your path. Keep moving forward even when the things that excite you seem to have nothing to do with each other. You never know how things will come together.

  2. Be open. Don’t have insistence or assumption of the outcome of what you’re acting on.

  3. Cultivate a positive state of being no matter the outcome. It’s wonderful when things work out the way we want them to. Sometimes, things don’t always go as we planned. That’s ok. It’s a time to reflect on what happened, acknowledge that it’s not what you wanted, but then you are developing a state of mind that is cultivating ideas for what you do want. Everything happens for a reason. Nothing is coincidence. If the result wasn’t what you wanted, examine it and see what you can learn from it and move on.

  4. Examine your belief system. Explore deep within yourself what keeps you going and what holds you back. If something is holding you back, why? Does it make sense to keep holding on to it? If not, let it go. Once you realize that it holds no more meaning for you, the pain, emotion and frequency goes away. It’s like a weight being removed.

  5. Motivation Factor: What you believe benefits you, you move towards. What you believe doesn’t benefit you, you move away from.

What are you choosing? Why are you choosing it?

Life is complex, amazing, beautiful and so much easier to live when we are able to slow down, reflect, and make meaningful choices that reflect who we are individually. We all have a light within us just waiting to shine. Release what no longer serves you and go with the flow of your excitement.
